Nowadays, no reasonable doubt exists that what we call “mind” is hosted inside the cranium, where the brain (or encephalon, from ancient Greek, which means “inside the head”) is located. Despite this common knowledge, the matching identity of mind and brain has been the center of a long lasting debate since Galen, a debate that has only recently settled down, between 1800s and 1900s. We might wonder what is the meaning of “mind”?
