Angelo Mosso (1846-1910) lived in a period characterised by cultural, political and institutional changes interacting in a complex network in Europe and Italy. In spite of the attempt of the Restauration to cancel the heritage of the French Revolution, the spirit of the Enlightenment was still alive, as it was shown by the 1830 and 1848 revolutions, the latter being accompanied by turmoils in various countries, included Italy.
