It is always difficult to talk about our own research. At the same time, however, when I received the invitation to write this contribution I realized that I had the opportunity to provide a message of enthusiasm, particularly to the younger colleagues and particularly in those difficult times. Indeed, the story behind the discovery of the so called “mirror neurons” is a story of research and serendipity but, even more, it is the result of the enthusiasm we were living in Parma, at the beginning of the Nineties, at the Institute of Physiology.
